Sunday saw the team trek down to the beautiful New Forest for the Regional MTB XC Championships event (part of the Southern XC Series). The course at Crow Hill had been re-imagined from previous versions, and opinions were divided - less technical (without the 'A lines' of previous years), but more flowy. The loose loam made for some fun, sideways (not always intentional!) action.
The Youth and Juveniles were first off, with Will in the U16s and Lucy in the U14s. Will had a really strong race, and finished 8th, despite losing time on the last lap due to foot cramps. After a bit of post-race discussion we decided that new shoes and footbeds might be worth a try. Good luck with that Will!
Lucy had a two-lap mano-a-mano battle with friend Aiofe (WXC World Racing), which ended in a sprint right to the line. Sadly on this occasion Lucy lost out by 0.4 of a second! She still managed to claim U14s Central Region MTB XC Champion though. Chapeau!
Katie lead the U12 girls race right from the start on their shortened version of the course and blasted round for the win. She was pleased with her prize of a smart new FOX Racing jersey!
Well done everyone, just a few weeks until the next race so keep working hard and enjoying the trails!
